Might upset some, but... Does anyone else have that annoying coworker who won't shut-up about the "possibilities"" of AI? That person also isn't technically skilled, and it seems like they believe in the "possibilities" of AI cause they don't wanna put in the work themselves

I used to work with someone who was very good at what they did/still very into AI so.. maybe that's worse? lol They didn't seem open to any criticism about it whatsoever/didn't seem to understand the difference between "good" and "bad" when it came to AI generated art/design 🙃

We have a couple of data scientists at work and one of them in particular just won't stfu about AI and ChatGPT. Like yes I get it but also .. it's painful especially as they choose to ignore a lot of the ethical aspects 🙈

I think a lot of people in tech have a misguided belief that technology in itself is inherently neutral.. Which is provably false lol Besides that tho, it's strange to see people embrace technology that can very well put them out of a job (even if AI does it half as well)

I will say that I do believe AI has potentially great applications when utilized in specific, meaningful ways w/ proper consideration given to potential harm, bias, etc. It would be nice to have actual reasonable discussions about it, not people trying to hype it up like Crypto

Yeah I think you're absolutely right. I definitely need to be less "old man yelling at clouds" when it comes to AI (I don't think it's all bad).. 🙈 it also has great applications to potentially make us more productive... so that we can actually work less imho, not more haha

Yeah, unfortunately I think this is the time when UBI would be needed and who know if/when that'll ever happen..

Yeah, I would love to see that happen 😭😭❤️

I like AI, machine learning and the possibilities it opens. I've seen some really cool innovations with robotics in agriculture and such. But AI generated chat bots and AI generated images is not really how we advance mankind. That's just devaluing things that humans like doing.

I think the chatbot thing will inevitably backfire.. No one likes talking to them. And there's plenty of issues that require a human touch. Idk, seems surprisingly short-sighted given what we know.. Don't even get me started on generated "art" Lol 🫠

Unintentional or otherwise, there seems to be an "anti-human" slant to pro-AI talk that I find particularly disturbing and uncomfortable.. If you have to put down humankind to boost the benefits of AI maybe.. rethink what you're saying? 😬

Yeah Jamie, I absolutely agree here. It irks me so much, it feels like AI-obsessed people forget we built the machines. I mean... clearly we are smarter than them 🤔😬😂

I see that in a lot of people these days lol

Sigh, I do get annoyed by people who get super excited to pump out AI generated garbage as their day job. It's mostly annoying when they (digital marketers) won't stop talking about it.
