Read 14 books last year and aiming for 20 this year! Recommending pretty much all of it, lol goodreads.com/user/show/1787…
Been really pushing myself to read more the past couple years. Starting 2024 off with The Road by Cormac McCarthy (finished already), and A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole. What are some books y'all are reading / would recommend for 2025?
Nice! Great job! We read some of the same books (Station Eleven, Annihilation).
OMG I love everything St. John Mandel writes, she’s amazing. I read sea of tranquility when it came out and ahhhhh
Sea of Tranquility was excellent. I personally liked that one better than Station Eleven, but both were great. Hoping for more from her.
American Prometheus, Barbarian Days, Our Band Could Be Your Life, All The Pretty Horses, Carnaval of Snackery
Those first two are definitely top of the top of the best books I’ve ever read
Right now I’m reading “The Black Expedience in Design”, it’s not what I expected as a read so far but it’s interesting and informative.
@averyillson I read 'The Stranger' by Albert Camus last year, have you read that one?
I have not, but I will throw it in my Goodreads list. I just finished a bunch of science and philosophy so I’m super interested in something fiction! Thanks!
Also to my fellow readers, two apps that I love: literal.club and read.readwise.io/ – I find a lot of new books in Literal and do most of my reading in Readwise.
I really want to re-read Ágota Kristóf's The Notebook Trilogy this year. Looking at your goodreads, you might like it too. Plenty to already like in your 'to-read' list as well!
I loved The Road! If you liked the (pretty anxiety-inducing) vibe, I can recommend parable of the sower / parable of the talents which I read last year.
