A test without talking to you sounds super fishy. Is it generic, or does it look like work they might actually use?

They might actually want to use it. The real deal. Its a 4 page Web design test on Figma 💀 The compensation is intriguing tho. But I don’t think I have time for that test

Oh. Well if they pay I wouldn’t really have an issue with it.

I mean the compensation that they’re offering (they’re an agency) I will not get paid right away after doing this design test 💀

A lot of folks would philosophically disagree with doing free work. It's a red flag if you havent even interviewed yet. A take home design test should never closely resemble what they do as a company - sounds like they just want free work.

If you want to remain professional but decline the project, ask them what the budget + rate is to complete the project. This will force their recruiting team to confront the fact that they're asking professionals for free labor 🤗

That’s a good “look at the mirror” kind of response

I would avoid.

Always avoid. Companies want you to do amazing work for free so they can use it later without having to pay.

Yes, avoid at all cost. It’s a deluded practice.

Yes.

Avoid, likely the rest of your experience working there would be bad as well.

Yes, I have experience with that and it's a waste of time.
