The most common mistake I see designers make is they always make it an ux-vs-product/eng game. That causes friction and tension in the team. Instead, make it a ux+product+eng-vs-problem and there will be a lot less stress and more fun.

I had a breakthrough when I realised I shouldn't look to minimise the risk of failing, I should try to minimise the cost of failing. Now I lean heavily on the fact that everything fails, usually several times, on the way to a success.
