Both. We lived abroad and my grandmothers lived in Italy so every year we’d travel to Rome — my paternal grandma would host Xmas Eve, maternal grandma would host Xmas Day.

For us, Xmas Eve was the bigger deal — that’s when we’d have more food & open presents. Now that I have my own family we do a nice dinner on Xmas Eve, our daughter can open one present, but we do the rest on Christmas Day (more relaxed, and then she can actually play right after)

But also 😅 my husband’s family lives abroad (Germany) so sometimes we travel to see them, meaning we open half of the presents here before Christmas & other ones on Christmas (Day). It’s actually nice because it releases the pressure (&stress) of a big pile of presents for a 4yo

Christmas Day for sure. Christmas Eve was just a filler holiday for us. We didn’t do anything besides going to church.

+1 to Day. Eve isn’t a holiday out here.
