I'm in the same boat, but what are seeking to practice exactly? Is it information architecture? Exploring different styles? Designing innovative ideas?

I just want to practice design thinking, sure I could crank out a ton of things but I would like for my reps to have some type of substance. I also could be way off the mark here

find problems, solve them design doesn't have to be about pixels. you will probably learn more by explicitly staying away from pixels.

Recently I've started redesigning the apps from my country that feel very clunky to me.

i'd argue this isn't much better than daily ui exercises. make something new, don't just redo what's already there.

but this could be a starting point, ryt?

I'm in a weird spot where I need daily practice but those prompts are odd to me. I don't wanna "design a in car app for a fashion designer" lmao

Or am I being too picky? Its ok you can tell me 😂

You could always pick one of the prompts and expand on it? Some of them can be quite interesting, like the home automation dashboard one, and focus on solving a specific problem.

Fwiw I agree that dailyui exercises are just about designing in a vacuum (like you’re not solving a problem or thinking about an app or platform very deeply, you’re just creating visual niceness). But maybe the prompts can be a starting point for something more.

I’ve been finding local businesses websites in areas that appeal to me then redesign their website.

I do a fixed rate based on what’s needed from a client. I’m very open to freelance work.

There's a 90 day ui challenge by Michal Malewicz(michalmalewicz.com/), it's quite helpful they have a separate slack channel as well, so that you can get critiques and stuff. link is hype4.academy/.

Maybe you can create your own challenge with products you like ? And then ask an AI like chatgpt or bard to create exercises based on your expectations and inspirations ? 🤷‍♂️

Sometimes I take screens or flows of the product I'm working on and reinterpret them w/ different or w/o constraints. Something like "What would a dark mode look like?" or “How could this look more fun”. I find this more effective than trying out completely fictional ideas.

As mentioned before by others, in my opinion focusing on a specific problem and showing how you framed the problem is a good exercise for practicing design thinking 🧠

The best decision is to take any service find any problem and to solve it.

I always have a side project going. Something that is multifaceted and let’s me explore many areas of design. I think a project with so many moving parts forces you into creating systems and into a mode of design thinking.
