where are all the lady designers?
We released 100 spots on Twitter yesterday and I am embarrassed to say that 90+ of those spots were men. Definitely going to look for more diverse and underrepresented communities to open invites to.
Gonna rope @tranhelen in to this conversation too - do you think we could find a way for me to give some of these invites to the dribbble cohort where I’m not just invading everyone’s slack inboxes?
I’m in a slack channel where there are lots of underrepresented designers that could use a place like this. I could send out a message for people to sign up/check out Posts. watbd.org
I just gave you a bunch of invites, we really appreciate it! If it’s easier too, I can create a special TestFlight link for the community too so you don’t have to manually invite people.
maybe worth starting with cold invites to people listed here womenwho.design/ or maybe reaching out to an org like Girls Who Code to see if their mentors are interested
Hot take: while it’s great to expand and look into different communities to provide invites to… it doesn’t mean that the open and unbiased way of sharing codes on Twitter is any worse.
Designers know the industry do a lot of back and forth over Twitter. If you’re not on it you’re gonna miss it. People should be wherever the industry is. Not expect the industry to come chasing unfortunately.
