Working on this! What’s the thing you need the most?

Some things that have come up as I’ve looked around: - time based billing being the focus or only way to bill - ability to apply discounts - ability to change the currency type per-client or per-invoice - well designed invoices - ideally I’d pay for my own custom domain

Appreciate it! Definitely agree on the time based billing. I freelance and do a mix of project, weekly, and hourly. Are you mostly project based? How do you usually accept payments?

Honestly it's been a really long time since the last time I freelanced. I *just* started working with someone new which is why it's top of mind. Hourly/monthly has been what has worked for me the most, I usually would quote projects based on how many weeks of work it was.

I log time in Toggl, assemble invoices with Tola. If I need to send out a contract or proposal, I write up a notion doc that is tailored to each client.

Often times the client has their own contract that I sign. If you need one drafted, an attorney could help you put together a document that covers you.

WorkingHours for simple time tracking; SubTotal for simple invoicing. By same sole developer. Love both apps! For proposals: god inspires me in my dreams and i just pass it along to the client thru whatever media appropriate. For contracts: i hv faith.

PayPal for invoicing, Craft for contracts/proposals. Ultimately looking to shift away from PayPal though at the start of 2025 to something that feels a bit more streamlined and customizable.

I log time with toggl and because I’m an absolute nerd I write my invoices in LaTeX with the “invoice” package (calculates sums, applies tax, you can define currency in each doc). I do this on the side though & have very few invoices / month, so I don’t mind the manual process.
