Less professional… more personal. (Less polish) But that’s just what I want.. maybe others hope it’ll help them with networking and career laddering.. which could be a great thing. But I personally am hoping it becomes more of an early Twitter / early dribbble vibe.
My signature banners once got so flashy other members got mad about it and asked me to size down to only one bouncing marquee
I would hope it’s a genuine / honest mix of design as a career and the people behind it. I am a sucker for getting swept up in the $400k TC job chat at insert big company here so I do want to see cliche tech bro stuff but there’s also rockstars at some startup in Delhi…….
The incessant need to grow grow grow a company to please shareholders and stakeholders for the sake of valuation is what ruins most nice new things. Because some colossal boring dildo comes along and says “wow cool….how can THIS be the next *insert unicorn here*
I think you and I are going to have a differing opinion here. I work for a VC firm—it doesn’t have to be that way, nor is that the goal of all business!
You are right that hyper-growth has negative consequences, but Post isn’t going to solve late stage capitalism.
I see what you mean. So it carries the burden of self-promotion so people don’t have to do it on their main feed?
Loving this about it — like an expanded bio that’s easy to access and has its own space to breathe… don’t have to cram everything in all at once.
What do you consider selling and content marketing? Like, does a design course fall under that for you?
Less toxic design bro influencer bullshit more real talk, casual photos, sharing real work, etc
I do wonder how we can achieve that. Hopefully by making it inclusive and not just white tech bro culture.
Not sure, a mix of calling out the bullshit and not engaging with them. They can’t gain steam if they lack the engagement.
Not gonna lie, I clicked this post to see how to be cool like you and was disappointed to see nothing
Sounds like someone doesn’t name their layers OR code… what do you do with all your time, actual good design work or something?
If you don’t name your layers, I don’t have time to waste working with you 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I agree. Your reply is the most relevant to me. The rest I have a hard time understanding.
Thanks for asking this! It’s so interesting to read through, and I love how the large themes are around increasing positivity and creating relationships.
The replies are interesting to me to. I have a fairly positive experience with twitter nowadays, so it’s a mind-trip to read some of it.
That’s good! I know for myself and for close friends, it’s very much been the opposite these last few months. Something new feels like a breath of fresh air. 🌱
more real life photos/updates, and sharing more work. i’m hopeful that i can be more real and less branded here – that a personal post will read as honest instead of unprofessional
No follower/following counts visible on profile pages is such a nice change of pace.
Less design. I want to see what other creatives are listening to, eating, inspired by, etc.
I feel like that's what I primarily get with Design twitter. I want more straight-up design.
It'll end up being similar. I'm just looking for less of the rest of the noise.
I hope we can leave the growth hack threads and clickbait hot takes behind. I’d love to see more women and their work highlighted here. Design Twitter is pretty Bro-tastic.
Less hot takes. Less trying to profit from other designers. Less courses. Less templates.
Not too crowded at the moment, reach is good, I started 10 minutes ago and got few followers, besides there is no bullshit just regular people sharing regular stuff, real work 🙌
I hope designs get likes based on merit and not just because someone “famous” did it
Natural connections and collaborations. I get freshman year of college vibes here (in a good way). We’re all new. Let’s make friends! And see what happens.
I think it’s exactly like design Twitter - if not even more focused 🙈 (not necessarily a good thing)
lil bits of kind advice and opportunities for growth for self taught or beginner designers w/o in your face “buy my course” sales
I hope it focuses more on building one another up, being inclusive of diverse backgrounds, and positively evolving the craft of design through constructive discourse. Less focus on hot takes or arguments that reflect poorly on the value of Design.
hopefully connecting with designers and learning from one another without feeling unheard, esp for someone early in their career
More design community in regards to sharing, critique, feedback, support, etc. and less “design thought leaders” just preaching.
Positive vibes over negativity. Actual work being shared and constructive critique being provided. Somewhere we can all be friends.
Less hot takes to go viral, less influencers, more people sharing the cool stuff they make and getting real candid feedback, more diversity (please) and connection!!!
Less top level “rock star” designers who plague twitter. I don’t know how this community might change when they join here, because they will.
More discussing ideas in an open-minded way and less shouting how AI has replaced my job 🤞
